Nuclear Industry Association – Digital Communications Executive

Hybrid working: 3 days per week in-office at York House, 23 Kingsway, London, WC2B 6UJ
About the NIA: The Nuclear Industry Association (NIA) is a membership organisation, representing more than 300 companies working in the civil nuclear sector in the UK. Our role is to represent the UK civil nuclear industry to government, Parliament, stakeholders and the media, to advocate for nuclear power as an essential part of the country’s energy mix, to assist our member companies in maximising industrial opportunities in the UK and internationally and arranging industry events and conferences.
Purpose of the Role: The Digital Communications Executive will be the person responsible for sustaining the NIA’s output of high-quality content on its website, social media outlets, and other digital channels. The role is essential to present strong “front of house” messages about the value of the civil nuclear industry and to keep the NIA’s industry members up to date on events and other work occurring across the sector.
Specific responsibilities include:
Maintaining a regular calendar of LinkedIn and X (Twitter) content promoting the case for new nuclear as well as the whole suite of activities of the NIA. This will involve working with the NIA’s Head of Design to develop graphics and other visual content on the case for nuclear.
Maintaining the NIA’s website with the latest facts, figures and arguments for nuclear in the UK’s energy mix.
Collecting and analysing data on the UK’s electricity grid mix, electricity prices, regional carbon intensity, electricity grid balancing costs and other data as required by the Head of Communications.
Compiling the NIA’s weekly members’ newsletter and other CRM communications, updating on major political and policy changes in nuclear, as well as news from member companies.
Updating the NIA’s website with details of NIA events, NIA business group meetings, NIA government and select committee consultation responses. This will involve working closely with the NIA’s member relations and events executives and with the NIA’s policy analyst.
Identifying opportunities for the NIA to engage with print/online and broadcast media from monitoring social and traditional media channels.
Representing the NIA at industry working groups and external events as required by the Director of Policy and External Affairs.
Person Specification:
Essential:
Prior professional experience in digital communications/marketing and/or media relations.
Experience in managing a professional website and social media channels.
Working knowledge of MailChimp or other CRM system.
Working knowledge and practice of the creative design process and working with brand identity.
Interest in energy policy.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to tailor material to a wide range of audiences.
Ability to operate proactively to support given priorities and objectives, rather than relying on day-to-day instructions.
Ability to work effectively in a team and take guidance from management.
Desirable:
Adobe CC software skills, in Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.
Knowledge of the UK civil nuclear industry
Experience working for a membership organisation
