Closing Date: 26th October 2026
Salary: £45,000–£85,000, depending on experience and seniority
Job Reference: #948533

An opportunity to join the largest specialist practice within a growing international communications consultancy, advising organisations across the energy, infrastructure and industrial landscape.

About the consultancy

This established communications consultancy works with organisations ranging from specialist technical businesses to major international companies.

Its energy practice is the largest team within the agency and operates across the full supply chain. Its client portfolio spans traditional energy, renewables, smart grids, carbon trading, infrastructure, engineering and advanced manufacturing.

The work is equally varied, encompassing strategic communications, media relations, content, digital marketing and wider corporate affairs. The consultancy uses an outcome-led commercial model, giving its teams the freedom to identify the most effective route to achieving each client’s objectives.

About the role

The consultancy is looking for an experienced communications practitioner to join its energy team at Senior Account Manager, Account Director or Senior Account Director level.

This is a senior client-facing role with responsibility for taking ownership of a significant portfolio of accounts. The successful candidate will become a trusted adviser to clients, provide high-quality strategic counsel and lead the delivery of integrated communications programmes.

The appointment will also create additional capacity within the practice’s leadership team, enabling it to capitalise on a strong pipeline of opportunities and continue its growth.

Depending on experience and seniority, responsibilities will include:

  • Leading client relationships and taking independent ownership of a portfolio of accounts.

  • Understanding clients’ wider commercial objectives and shaping communications programmes around the outcomes they need to achieve.

  • Anticipating client needs, identifying potential issues and providing proactive strategic advice.

  • Overseeing integrated communications activity across media, content, digital and other relevant channels.

  • Leading and developing account teams across two UK offices.

  • Identifying opportunities to deepen existing client relationships and expand into adjacent markets.

  • Contributing to new business activity and, at the more senior end of the role, generating revenue through an existing network.

About you

The ideal candidate will bring significant communications consultancy experience within the energy sector. The consultancy is also open to people with relevant B2B experience across infrastructure, engineering, industrials, advanced manufacturing or other technically complex and regulated industries.

Candidates currently working in-house or within a trade association may also be considered, provided they can demonstrate the pace, commercial awareness and client-service instincts required to succeed in a consultancy environment.

The successful candidate will be:

  • A credible and confident client adviser who can quickly take ownership of senior relationships.

  • Proactive, independent and comfortable acting without waiting to be instructed.

  • Able to anticipate what clients and colleagues will need and remain several steps ahead.

  • Commercially aware and focused on delivering outcomes rather than simply completing activity.

  • Curious about clients, their industries and the wider communications landscape.

  • A clear internal communicator who provides colleagues with visibility and reassurance.

  • Collaborative, positive and willing to contribute wherever needed.

  • Low ego and comfortable working as part of a close, ambitious team.

  • Interested in helping to grow existing accounts and the wider practice.

Direct energy experience is highly desirable, but the consultancy is willing to support someone in developing deeper sector knowledge if they bring excellent client leadership, strategic judgement and delivery skills.
